And the last Book I wanna recommend is The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. Your story should be true

It needs a beginning, a middle, and an end. Our minds are relentless pattern-matching machines that are always trying to connect dots and make sense of the ice-cold absurdity of existence. Life is a mess, but as the auteur of your story, you can decide where it starts, where it ends, and what happens in the middle, as long as what happens in the middle is a) surprising in a way that b) makes sense and c) keeps raising the stakes so we stay engaged and entertained.

Learn how to structure a story

Rehearse the hell out of your story. When you get on stage, you’re going to go blank, so it’s better, as a rookie, to memorize the story, word for word. You can afford to loosen up later on, if you want.

Before you perform, PRACTICE

Use humor judiciously. If you blow a joke, or if you make a joke that seems forced when it’s supposed to be spontaneous, that will suck the energy out of the room. If you kill, you’ll get a lot of laughs, which is a high-quality problem but will seriously eat into your time. At least in LA, they enforce the five-minute limit fairly strictly. The judges will ding you for going over, plus it’s just rude, selfish, and narcissistic to outstay your welcome on stage.

Use humor judiciously

Don’t talk about pain that’s too fresh. We like you, and we don’t want to be actively concerned for your welfare.

The property of sentences, assertions, beliefs, thoughts, or propositions that are said, in ordinary discourse, to agree with the facts or to state what is the case.false propositions cannot be known - for something to count as knowledge, it must actually be true. As Aristotle famously (but rather confusingly) expressed it: "To say of something which is that it is not, or to say of something which is not that it is, is false. However, to say of something which is that it is, or of something which is not that it is not, is true."

Truth

A subjective attitude that a proposition is true or a state of affairs is the case. One cannot know something that one doesn't even believe in, the statement "I know x, but I don't believe that x is true" is contradictory.

Beliefs

is the right standing of a person’s beliefs with respect to knowledge, though there is some disagreement about what that means precisely. Some argue that right standing refers to whether the beliefs are more likely to be true. Others argue that it refers to whether they are more likely to be knowledge. Cultural imprinting is a mechanism by which an ad changes the culture, by changing how we are perceived by others when we use a product. Cultural imprinting works because it relies on the principle of common knowledge, which means both the ads and the product usage has to be conspicuous. We all see the ad advertising "Corona" as the drink for chilling at the beach. And we all communicate the association to the message when we pick a Corona at a party. This is why cultural imprinting ads are found on billboards. And why it works for Coca-Cola but not for a bedsheet company.

Brand advertising = Cultural Imprinting

Imagine you see an ad for a new brand of sneakers. The ad features cool people wearing the sneakers and having fun. This might make you think that if you wear those sneakers, you'll also be cool and have fun. That's cultural imprinting!Ads don't directly tell you the sneakers are good, instead, they try to make you think that wearing them will change how other people see you. In other words, according to the article, ads don't convince you a product is great, they try to convince you that using the product will make you look great in the eyes of others.

Cultural Imprinting in Real life

<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Emotional imprinting is the idea that ads can create positive associations between a product and feelings. These associations can influence us to buy a product later, even if we don't consciously remember the ad.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Cultural imprinting is about how ads change the culture by creating associations between a product and a group of people. </li></ul>So, the key difference between the two is the former works on an individual level, by creating positive associations between a product and our emotions, while the later works on a societal level, by creating associations between products and social groups.

Cultural Imprinting vs Emotional Imprinting

Not every company can play the cultural game. Alternatives:- Informing customers about a product: "FYI, product X exists. Here's how it works. It's available if you need it." Hopefully by repeating it enough time sales happen.- Overt persuasion: "4/5 doctors prefer Camels" or "Verizon: America's largest 4G LTE network"- Making promises: Guarantee or warrantees, but more often a brand image. Like Disney = "family entertainment"- Honest signaling: an ads in a very expensive location. A huge billboard announces (subtextually), "We're willing to spend a lot of $ on this. We're committed to it."

Ads Don’t Work That Way

The term "hedonism" is derived from the Greek "hedone" meaning simply "pleasure". In common language, Hedonism has come to mean devotion to pleasure as a way of life, especially to the pleasures of the senses, and is synonymous with sensualism, libertinism, debauchery and dissipation.

Term

Hedonism is the philosophy that pleasure is the most important pursuit of mankind, and the only thing that is good for an individual. Hedonists, therefore, strive to maximize their total pleasure (the net of any pleasure less any pain or suffering). They believe that pleasure is the only good in life, and pain is the only evil, and our life's goal should be to maximize pleasure and minimize pain.

Psychological Hedonism is the view that humans are psychologically constructed in such a way that we exclusively desire pleasure. Ethical Hedonism, on the other hand, is the view that our fundamental moral obligation is to maximize pleasure or happiness. It is the normative claim that we should always act so as to produce our own pleasure.

The Paradox of Hedonism (also called the Pleasure Paradox), points out that pleasure and happiness are strange phenomena that do not obey normal principles, in that they cannot be acquired directly, only indirectly and we often fail to attain pleasures if we deliberately seek them.

The Paradox

Hedonism usually pre-supposes an individualist stance, and is associated with Egoism (the claim that individuals should always seek their own good in all things). Epicureanism is a more moderate approach (which still seeks to maximize happiness, but which defines happiness more as a state of tranquillity than pleasure). A similar but more altruistic approach results in Utilitarianism, the position that the moral worth of any action is determined by its contribution to overall utility in maximizing happiness or pleasure as summed among all people.

Atomism is a Pre-Socratic school of thought from ancient Greece, established in the late 5th Century B.C. by Leucippus of Miletus and his more famous student, Democritus. It teaches that the hidden substance in all physical objects consists of different arrangements of atoms and void

Atomism

No writings by the movement's founder, Leucippus, have survived, and we have just a few fragments of the writings of Democritus in secondhand reports, sometimes unreliable or conflicting. Much of the best evidence is that reported by Aristotle in his criticisms of Atomism, which he regarded as an important rival current in natural philosophy.

Writings

philosopher Lucretius (c. 99 - 55 B.C.) whose "On the Nature of Things" was one of the definitive works of Epicureanism, but also of Atomism. It argues that the universe and all substance is eternal, composed of atoms moving in an infinite void and nothing else, and that the human soul also consists of minute atoms that dissipate into smoke when a person dies.

Of Democritus' and Epicurus' followers

Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 - 1543) and Galileo Galilei (1564 - 1642), who himself converted to Atomism when he found that his corpuscular theory of matter and his experiments with falling bodies and inclined planes contradicted the mainstream Aristotelian theories.The English philosophers Sir Francis Bacon and Thomas Hobbes were both confirmed Atomists for a time, as was Giordano Bruno in Italy.

Famous Atomist (Scientist And Philosopher

The main figures in the rebirth of Atomism were the French philosophers René Descartes, Pierre Gassendi, and the Irish philosopher and scientist Robert Boyle.

The Revival

Descartes’ mechanical philosophy of corpuscularism (that everything physical in the universe is made of tiny “corpuscles” of matter, and that sensations, such as taste or temperature, are caused by the shape and size of tiny pieces of matter) had much in common with Atomism, and may be considered in some sense another version of it, although for Descartes there could be no void, and all matter was constantly swirling to prevent a void as corpuscles moved through other matter.

Descartes' Atomism

He formulated his atomistic conception of mechanical philosophy partly in response to Descartes, particularly opposing Descartes’ reductionist view that only purely mechanical explanations of physics are valid.

Gassendi's Atomism

Robert Boyle's form of Atomism, which came to be accepted by most English scientists, was essentially an amalgamation of the two French systems. He arrived at it after encountering problems reconciling Aristotelian physics with his chemistry experimentation.

Boyle's Atomism

Philosophical Atomism led to the development of early scientific atomic theory, modern science has shown that atoms in the chemical sense are actually composed of smaller particles (electrons, neutrons and protons), and that these in turn are composed of even more fundamental particles called quarks. Although the principle can still theoretically apply, there are few, if any, modern-day atomists.

1. Affection

Affection can be felt for almost anyone, regardless of their appearance, intelligence, or other qualities. It is the least finicky and the broadest of natural loves.Affection is not proud and does not expect too much, turning a blind eye to faults and reviving easily after quarrels.It is a love that can unite those who are not naturally suited to each other, and it can enter into and color other loves, becoming the medium in which they operate.

Affection is also the love that can make appreciations possible which, but for it, might never have existed.It is a love that can unite people who, if they had not found themselves put down by fate in the same household or community, would have had nothing to do with each other.It is a love that can open our eyes to goodness we could not have seen, or should not have appreciated without it.

However, it is important to note that Affection, by itself, left simply to follow its own bent, can darken and degrade human life.It is a love that can be present, causing unhappiness, and it has its own criteria, requiring its objects to be familiar.Affection is also the image used in Scripture when God is represented as our Father.

Idolatry: Partners can be tempted to place each other above everything, including God, leading to possessiveness and jealousy.Addiction:  The intensity can be addictive, pushing lovers to demand exclusivity or lose their identity in the relationship.

Dangers and Pitfalls

Unification: Eros brings two people closer, helping them understand the nature of unity and intimacy.Creativity: This love often leads to creative pursuits, such as poetry, art, or grand gestures meant to express affection.

Positive Aspects

Eros is a powerful and beautiful form of love that should be embraced with caution, always aligned with higher spiritual and moral values.
